What is "Reasonable Pricing"? Since reasonability varies from person to person, that's a question only you can answer. I personally like a "Risk Free Pricing" approach.
My pricing is 100% Risk Free. How so? After the project is complete, I will provide a detailed summary of the project based on the actual time and level of effort. This summary will include my hourly charge. You can then compare my charge to your reasonable price and pay the lower of the two.
Yes. Ninety percent of my normal workload is mowing lawns. Generally I make $20 for every 15 minutes that I am riding on a lawn mower to maintain a lawn with grass 6 inches or less. Since project work is more difficult than riding on a lawn mower, I charge $25 for every 15 minutes if I'm just using manual hand tools, and $35 if I have to risk using my expensive power equipment. In order to to be a profitable business, I have to charge more money for more work and more risk. If I didn't, I wouldn't be in business long 😊.
Since I am willing to accept your reasonable price, there's really no value in taking extra time to provide an estimate. However I may need to review the project scope just to make sure it's something I can handle. Once the project is complete, I trust that the customer will review the detailed summary and pay what they feel is reasonable and fair. After payment is received I reserve the right to confirm reasonability by posting "before" and "after pictures of the job along with the price paid on social media for community feedback. For privacy reasons the posting will not include the name or address associated with where the work was performed.
